Brief Introduction
Today because of the fast progress of computer and communication’s technology, it stimulates the information application’s vigorous growing. The information network established through the combination of computer and telecommunication technology can not only promote production capacity but also has a revolutionary impact on educational training, R&D, medical services, entertainment, and broadcasting. Nowadays, information has become each nation’s important economical resources. Base on this, every developed country in the world has plunged into the procession of information infrastructure’s construction. Our country’s National Information Infrastructure’s construction has been actively launched. And our country’s “National Information Infrastructure’s Driving Subcommittee of Executive Yuan” has been set up to facilitate each job item’s smooth proceeding. Among them, distance learning has been listed as one of the NII’s important items.
Distance learning can be implemented not only in real-time teaching, but also in the discussion among teachers or among teachers and students which can be preceded no matter how far they are separated. Furthermore, it can also be integrated with the educational resources on Internet. Therefore a teacher is not only a knowledge transferor but also a knowledge tour guide. With the help of accessing software on Internet, a teacher can easily guide students at anywhere to surf world’s knowledge palaces.

C.C.C. will send the approval result to you by email or phone call three days after the receiving of the application.
Application Procedure for Distance Learning Classroom’s Borrowing
Step 1: Please contact the person in charge to reserve the date of using.
Step 2: Download the application form, fill it up and sent it to Division of Learning Technology, C.C.C. (The office is at 5th fl, Second General Building) for approval. It has to be submitted seven working days prior to the date of using.
Step 3: C.C.C. gives notice of approval result by email or phone call to the user.
Step 4: Payment procedure:
A. Personal: Pays according to the charging criteria and takes the temporary receipt. The formal receipt can be got later upon notification.
B. Account Balance Transfer: For a school’s unit, it has to fill up “In-campus Account Balance Transfer Notice”. Please get the unit’s transfer code ready in advance.
Overall framework
IP Framework: TANET of Taiwan Academic Network; Decode: H233 system; Bandwidth: 128K to 2Mbps. It is to network the other three universities of Taiwan United University system.
ISDN Framework: ISDN circuit of Chunghwa Telcom; Decode: H320 system; Bandwidth: 128Kbps to.544 Mbps. Currently it is used in the backup system of H323.
Organization and Facilities
So far our school has established a distance learning classroom (capacity: 106 people). This classroom has both broadcasting and receiving capability. The following are the current facilities:
1. Teaching facilities: PCs, document prompting machine, overhead projector, DVD player/recorder, lantern-slide projector, digital teaching material manufacturing system, electronic white board, etc.
2. AV collecting facilities: cameras, wireless microphones for teachers/students.
3. AV signal processing facilities: Image matrix transferor, audio mixer, monitor/ monitoring speaker, multi-signal transferring/strengthening/distribution/selection facilities.
4. AV signal broadcasting facilities: liquid crystal projector, 50” plasma TV/acoustics
